Fire guts Shawneetown Trail house
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Fire gutted a single-story house at 10790 Shawneetown Trail west of Steeleville on Tuesday morning.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">According to Steeleville Police Chief Tyler Cleland, two residents were home at the time of the blaze and both made it out safely. Randolph County tax records state the property is owned by Jane Boyd, of Sparta.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">A cause of the fire, which was reported at 7:26 a.m., was not immediately available. Smoke was seen pouring out of both ends of the structure, which had a metal roof.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Steeleville, Chester and Percy fire departments responded to the fire. This story will be updated later.</span>
