Four charged with meth conspiracy
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Three Southern Illinois and one Missouri resident were federally charged Tuesday with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, according to U.S. Attorney Donald S. Boyce.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Boyce announced in a news release that 26-year-old Paige M. Gleghorn, of Sparta; 31-year-old Jeremy J. Humphries (AKA "Hump" and "Slick"), of Tilden and 26-year-old Garrick E.R. Recker (AKA "Curtis Lowe"), of Lenzburg, were all charged together with one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of meth.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Also included in the indictment was 29-year-old Derek L. "Doucher" Sumpter of Cape Girardeau, Mo.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The indictment alleges the offense occurred between 2015 and February 2017 in Perry, Randolph, Monroe, and St. Clair counties.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">On Thursday, Gleghorn made her initial appearance in federal court and was ordered held without bond pending a May 15 jury trial.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Recker, Sumpter, and Humphries had previously appeared in federal court and were also ordered held without bond pending trial.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The methamphetamine offense carries a maximum penalty of five to 40 years in prison, to be followed by four years of mandatory supervised release and a maximum $5 million fine.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, Perry County (Mo.) Sheriff's Office, and Drug Enforcement Administration.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Randolph County State's Attorney's Office and the Monroe County State's Attorney's Office also assisted in the investigation.</span>
