STEELEVILLE -- Haley Troue went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, and Steeleville scored eight runs in the first inning en route to a run-rule win over visiting Galva on March 28.

Sydney Hood also went 4-for-4 with an RBI and Sydnie Furman drove in a run on a 3-for-3 performance for the Lady Warriors (6-1), who pitched a shutout until Galva scored two runs in the top of the fifth.

<li><strong> Gibault 13, Chester 3</strong></li>

WATERLOO -- Gibault Catholic scored six runs in the second and fourth innings en route to a win over Chester on March 28.

Daltyn Korando went 2-for-2 with a RBI and a run scored for the Yellow Jackets (2-8), while Matt Smith (1-2) and Calvin Clendenin (1-2) also drove in a run. Curt Meyer took the loss on the mound for Chester.

<li><strong> Pinckneyville 7, Steeleville 4</strong></li>

STEELEVILLE -- R.J. Smith went 1-for-3 with an RBI, but Pinckneyville handed Steeleville its first loss of the season on March 28.

The Warriors (3-1) trailed 3-2 going into the sixth inning, when Pinckneyville scored four runs to take a 7-2 advantage. Steeleville responded with two runs in its half of the sixth, but was not able to close the gap any further.

Hunter Fedderke (1-1) took the loss for Steeleville, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Eli Wittenborn came on in relief and allowed two earned runs in an inning and a third of work.

Owen Gross (1-2), Dusty Sutton (1-2) and Bradley Mevert also had hits for Steeleville.

<li><strong>Sparta 9, Chester 5</strong></li>

</ul>

SPARTA -- Brady Kelkhoff went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and Ethen Eggemeyer, Nick Meyer and Calvin Clendenin drove in runs in Chester's loss to Sparta on March 29.

Chester led 1-0 on a RBI single by Nick Meyer, which scored older brother Curt, but Sparta scored three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to take a 6-1 lead into the sixth.

The Yellow Jackets (2-9) sent 10 batters to the plate in the sixth and scored four runs to cut the deficit to 6-5, but Sparta scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Chester put two runners on with two outs in the seventh, but Brady Kelkhoff flew out to right field to end the game.

The Yellow Jackets out-hit Sparta 11-4, but the Yellow Jackets were done in by seven errors on defense in dropping its fourth straight game. Eggemeyer took the loss on the mound for Chester.

<li><strong> Plano 6, Steeleville 5</strong></li>

STEELEVILLE -- Owen Gross went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, but Steeleville dropped its second straight game with a loss to Plano on March 30.

Dusty Sutton drove in a run on a 1-for-4 performance for the Warriors (3-2), who scored one run in the first and three runs in the seventh with nobody out.

Plano scored four runs in the third and two in the fifth. Owen Gross (1-1) took the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in four innings of work. R.J. Smith pitched the final three innings for Steeleville, allowing Plano's final two runs on five hits.
