Chester JV baseball splits doubleheader
<span style="font-weight: 400;">CHESTER -- Jakob Cushman went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Chester JV baseball salvaged a split with Pinckneyville with a 6-5 win in the second half of an April 8 doubleheader at the Cohen Complex.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The teams were tied at 5 going to the bottom of the seventh. Cushman led off the Yellow Jackets' at-bat and reached on an error, advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by Chett Andrews.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Kaleb Hughes was next and grounded into a 5-3 putout, moving Cushman to third. Cushman then scored on a wild pitch to give Chester the victory.</span>
<strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Owen Korando (1-3, RS), who got the win on the mound, Erik Cowell (1-1, RS) and Andrews (1-3) all had hits for the Yellow Jackets, who dropped the opener 20-1.</span></strong>
