Indians offensive struggles continue in 4-1 loss to Hornets
The Du Quoin Indians fell to conference foe Nashville on the road Tuesday evening 4-1, as Braden Lee was tagged with the loss despite giving up just one earned run (four total) over six innings of work on nine hits and two walks while striking out three.
Jordan Edwards scored the lone run of the game for the Indians in the fourth inning, coming around to score on a Nashville error after a leadoff walk.
Nashville picked up it's first two runs in the bottom of the second, as a leadoff double came around to score on an RBI-single, while the other run came around on an error.
The Hornets added two more insurance runs in the sixth inning. They led the inning off with a single and walk before Lee was able to retire the next two-batters.
But, Du Quoin prolonged the inning with a two-out error, which proved costly as the leadoff batters came around to score on a single the next at-bat.
Du Quoin managed to put runners on first and second with two outs in the seventh, but were unable to spark any rally of some sort as Nashville struck out the next batter to end the game.
The Indians (9-7) will look to end its current two-game losing skid when they travel to take on conference foe Carterville Thursday evening, a team they lost to earlier in the season 1-0. The game is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
