IHSA announces postseason sites
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The IHSA announced its postseason sites for baseball and softball on Tuesday, with Steeleville softball and Red Bud and Trico baseball being awarded regional hosting duties.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">In Class 1A softball, Steeleville and archrival Trico were both assigned to Sub-Sectional A of the Trico Sectional, along with Edwards County, Carrier Mills-Stonefort, Elverado, Galatia-Thompsonville, Grayville, Gallatin County, Crab Orchard and Norris City-Omaha-Enfield.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Carrier Mills is the other regional host in Sub-Sectional A, with Dongola and Pope County being the regional hosts in Sub-Sectional B.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Pioneers will host sectional competition starting May 23, with a super-sectional site still yet to be announced by the IHSA.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">In Class 2A softball, Chester, Red Bud and Sparta will all have to travel to either Anna-Jonesboro or Johnston City for regional action as part of Sub-Sectional B of the Harrisburg Sectional.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Other teams teams in the sub-sectional are Carterville, Du Quoin, Pinckneyville, Vienna and Zeigler-Royalton. Carmi-White County and West Frankfort have regional hosting duties in Sub-Sectional A.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Johnston City will also host the Super-sectional on May 29.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">In Class 1A baseball, Steeleville has been assigned to Sub-Sectional B of the Goreville Sectional, with the Pioneers and Century as regional hosts.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Other teams in the Sub-Sectional are Cairo, Cobden, Dongola, Elverado, Meridian, Egyptian and Shawnee. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">In Class 2A baseball, Chester, Red Bud and Sparta have all been assigned to Sub-Sectional B of the Benton Sectional, with the Musketeers and Carterville having hosting duties. Other teams in the Sub-Sectional are Anna-Jonesboro, Du Quoin, Nashville, Pinckneyville, Vienna, Gibault Catholic and Zeigler-Royalton.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Fairfield and Harrisburg will host regionals in Sub-Sectional A. GCS Ballpark in Sauget will host Super-sectional duties once again.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Postseason seeding is expected to be announced on May 2. Regional action starts the week of May 15, with regional championships scheduled for May 20 and sectional championships May 27.</span>
