Lady Indians finish second at West Frankfort Invite
The Du Quoin Lady Indians continued their track and field success Thursday evening with a second-place finish among 11 competing teams at the West Frankfort Invitational. <br />They scored 65.50 points as a team to finish just behind Nashville who finished with 77.50 and well ahead of the third place finishing Lady Lions who finished with 41.<br />Du Quoin finished first in eight of the 18 events, with Tarynn Mays leading the way by winning three individual events. <br />Mays took first in the long jump with a new personal record of 16'06", the triple jump with a jump of 36'04" and the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.67 seconds. <br />Gabby Alongi took home two first-place finishes as well in the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:29.21, and the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:45.47. <br />Madison Davis was the other individual winner, taking first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.12 seconds. She also took third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.88 seconds. <br />Rounding out the first-place finishes were the 4x100-meter relay team (Hannah Baxter, Mays, Bailey Harsy and Davis) with a new PR of 50.97 seconds putting them within one second of the school record; and the 4x200-meter relay team (Rylea McDonald, Baxter, Skye Westerhouse and Davis) which finished with a season best time of 1:54.07. <br />Other top finishers for the Lady Indians were Bailey Harsy (second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.75), the 4x800-meter relay team (second with a time of 11:06.63), the 4x400-meter relay team (fifth with a time of 4:54.75), Elizabeth Bird (fourth in the high jump with a jump of 4'10"), Skye Westerhouse (sixth in the long jump with a distance of 14'04") and Quinn Kirkpatrick (tied for second in the pole vault with a jump of 7'06").<br />The Lady Indians will resume action Monday at the Benton Don Webb Invite at 4 p.m.
