Indians even up conference record with 14-0 blowout win over Sparta

Hank Stewart was nearly perfect for Du Quoin Tuesday evening, allowing just on hit and two walks while working five scoreless innings in a 13-0 blowout win over Sparta.<br />Stewart surrendered a hit to the first batter he faced and then retired 15 out of the next 17 batters he faced while the offense provided more than enough support to pick up the conference victory. <br />Stewart (2-3 2B BB) and Tevin Lee (2-2 BB HBP) set the tone throughout at the number one and two spots in the lineup, combining to score eighth of the Indians 13 runs in the game. <br />Ashton Smith provided plenty of production in the middle of the lineup, collecting three hits to drive in a team-high five RBI's, while Charley Mercier added a pair of RBI doubles as well.<br />Jordan Edwards was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored, while Braden Lee also collected an RBI in the blowout win. <br />In total, the Indians collected 13 hits in the win to improve to 12-8 on the season and 4-4 in conference play. <br />They will look to make it three wins in a row Wednesday (today) when they take on Steeleville at home. <br />The game is slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
