William Ralph Higgerson of Pinckneyville

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">William Ralph "Bill" Higgerson, 89, of Pinckneyville passed away at 8:22 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.<br /> Bill was born July 17, 1927, in Denmark, Ill., a son to Ralph William and Lula Inez (Cottom) Higgerson. On Nov. 13, 1954, he married his wife, Virginia "Jackie" Hutchings, at Denmark Baptist Church in Denmark, Ill., and she preceded him in death Nov. 23, 2010, after 56 years of marriage. Bill was a truck driver for several different companies for 40 years, retiring from Frazier Truck Line. He belonged to Teamsters Local 347 in West Frankfort for about&#160; 30 years and was a member of Denmark Baptist Church. He was a veteran in the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. <br /> Survivors include three sons, William Ray "Bill" Higgerson of Pinckneyville, Douglas Dean (Pam) Higgerson of Pinckneyville and Robert Allen Higgerson of Chester; one daughter, Candy Kay (Mark) Cicardi of Pinckneyville; six&#160; grandchildren, Cary (George) Bailey, Will (fiancé Beth Inman) Higgerson, Amanda (Dusty) Jaroski, Emily (Zach) Elliott, Taylor (fiancé Danny Harman) Cicardi and Josh Higgerson; six great-grandchildren, Cody Bailey, Paxton Higgerson, Chloe Bailey, Mallory Higgerson, Emma Jo Jaroski and Hattie Jean Jaroski; numerous other family members; and his special friends from Dixie's Café.<br /> He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jackie; one son, James Bruce Higgerson; a sister in infancy, Florence Emily Higgerson; and two brothers, John Paul Higgerson and Freddie Higgerson.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1554_1693" tabindex="0">Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville with Brother Mark Lee officiating.</span> Interment will be at Cottom Cemetery in Denmark, Ill., with military rites performed by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post 2504 of Pinckneyville.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1844_1964" tabindex="0">Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 24 and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville.</span><br /> Memorial donations may be made to Cottom Cemetery in Denmark or Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post 2504 in Pinckneyville.<br /> For more information or to sign an online guest register please visit www.pyattfuneralhome.com.</span></span>
