Arvel Ray "Blackie" Spain Jr.
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Arvel Ray "Blackie" Spain Jr., 71, of Smithfield, N.C., passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at his home. <br /> He was born Nov. 11, 1945, and is the son of the late Arvel Ray Spain Sr. and Mary Wilma Roach Spain. The family will have a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. May 6, 2017, in the chapel of Yelverton Grove OFWB Church, <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_324_380" tabindex="0">1094 Yelverton Grove Church Rd., Smithfield, N.C., 27577</span>.<br /> He is survived by a son, Aaron Spain; daughters Melissa Shadrick of Patoka, Ill., and Cheryl Addison of Mt.
