Lady Indians dominate competition at Fairfield Invite

The Du Quoin Lady Indians took first place at the Fairfield Invitational Thursday evening, dominating the field with a staggering 14 first-place finishes to total 183 points as a team, well ahead of Mt. Carmel who finished second with 34 points. <br />Freshman runner Gabby Alongi continued to make her mark in the Du Quoin High School record books, breaking her own mark in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:20.78 to finish first. <br />Alogni also took first in the 800 and 1600-meter run with times of 2:30.37 and 5:43.38, respectively. Teammate Andrea Lopez took second in the 1600-meter run as well, finishing in 6:24.<br />Tarynn Mays had herself an impressive day as well, taking first in the triple jump (35'09.75"), long jump (16'00"), 100-meter dash (12.5 seconds) and 200-meter dash (27.22 seconds).<br />Teammate Madison Davis finished right behind Mays in the 100-meter (28.12 seconds) and 200-meter dash (12.69 seconds) to go along with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.63. <br />Bailey Harsy took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.31 seconds and third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 57.49 seconds.<br />Mishka Monroe edged out a first-place finish in shot put with a throw of 31'03".<br />Quinn Kirkpatrick tied her PR in the pole vault with a jump of 7'06" to finish first, while teammate Melana Adams took second with a jump of seven feet. <br />Du Quoin dominated the relays as well, as the 4x100 (Hannah Baxter, Harsy, Skye Westerhouse and Smith), 4x200 (Baxter, Rylea McDonald, Westerhouse and Madison Jones) and the 4x800-meter (Lauren Cravens, Kate Smith, Kirkpatrick and Lopez) relay teams each finished in first. <br />The 4x400-meter relay team finished second. <br />The Lady Indians will resume action Monday (today) at the Pinckneyville Invitational at 4 p.m.
