Harrisburg Kiwanis get lowdown on upcoming eclipse party
Stacey Wasson and Olivia Bradley spoke about the upcoming solar eclipse during the June 28 luncheon meeting of Harrisburg Kiwanis Club.
Wasson is president of Saline County Chamber of Commerce, and Bradley is past president.
The chamber is planning an eclipse party on Aug. 20, the day prior to the actual eclipse. It is called, "Total Eclipse of the Heartland."
Poplar Street will be closed from Main Street to Mill Street from 2 to 10 p.m. for activities, which include music from three bands. Most activities will be free; however, there will be a charge of $10 per person to enter the band area.
In order to offset some of the cost of this event, the chamber is accepting sponsorships of $500 from businesses, organizations and individuals.
Additional information may be obtained from the "Total Eclipse of the Heartland" Facebook page or by calling the chamber office at its new location, on the third floor of Harrisburg City Hall, at (618) 252-4192.
