Trico def. Steeleville, 25-17, 25-22

STEELEVILLE -- Karley Kothe and AnnaBeth Batson combined for 11 kills, but Trico downed Steeleville in a sweep on Sept. 6.

Batson also contributed a block and an ace for the Lady Warriors (2-5), while Mackenzie Pim recorded nine assists.

New Athens def. Steeleville, 25-14, 25-17

STEELEVILLE -- Karley Kothe and AnnaBeth Batson each recorded four kills and three blocks, but New Athens defeated Steeleville in the Lady Warriors' home opener on Sept. 5.

Mackenzie Pim added three assists and Chloe Gordon contributed two aces for Steeleville (2-4) in the loss.

Steeleville def. Marissa-Coulterville, 25-14, 25-21

MARISSA -- Karley Kothe recorded seven kills and a block, and Steeleville snapped a four-game losing streak with a sweep of Marissa-Coulterville on Sept. 7.

Sydney Hood and Mackenzie Pim combined for six kills, while AnnaBeth Batson added six aces. Lexi Middendorf led the Steeleville (3-5) defense with nine digs, while Batson and Chloe Gordon combined for 12 more.

Lady Warriors at Pinckneyville quadrangular

PINCKNEYVILLE -- Steeleville Lady Warriors golfers Raegan Grefe and Caitlin Schwarz competed in a quadrangular on Sept. 5 with Waterloo, Du Quoin and Pinckneyville.

Schwarz finished with a score of 50, while Grefe carded a 51. Pinckneyville won the event with a score of 154.

Lady Warriors at Red Bud triangular

RED BUD -- Caitlin Schwarz led Steeleville once again with a score of 50, while Raegan Grefe carded a score of 61 in a triangular with Marissa-Coulterville and Red Bud on Sept. 7 at North County Country Club near Red Bud.

Marissa-Coulterville won the event with a team score of 186.

Cross country

First to the Finish meet

PEORIA -- The Steeleville boys cross country team competed in the First to the Finish meet in Peoria on Sept. 9, finishing 17th out of 55 schools.

Warriors sophomore Logan Fulkerson was Steeleville's top finisher, taking 54th out of 593 runners with a time of 16:50.7. Junior Gavin Conway finished 73rd with a time of 17:12.0.

Other runners for Steeleville were A.J. Stearns (101st, 17:32.9), Jacob Fedderke (107th, 7:35.9), Austin Block (198th, 18:37.9), Connor Warhausen (200th, 18:44.6) and Owen Gross (202nd, 18:44.6).
