Eisenhauer's Giant Killers victorious in first homeroom challenge

Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School just completed its first PBIS event of the year. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. CMSF PBIS program is a consistent way to promote and reward positive choices and appropriate behaviors in students at school.

CMSF students follow the Rule of Five: Attend school every day. Learn something new every day. Ask questions every day. Tell the truth all the time. Treat others with respect.

Homeroom challenge No. 1 was a volleyball competition on Sept. 15. All eligible students wanting to participate in the volleyball tournament were placed on a team. Each class had two teams with seven players per team.

The senior teams, dressed in purple and gold, were Kuhlmann's Killaz and Mitchell's Marauders. Wearing blue and red were the two junior teams, Hosmon's Blue Devils and Eisenhauer's Giant Killers. The sophomore teams, wearing orange and black, were Kirkland's Krazies and DeNeal's Destroyers. Dressed in green and white, the two freshmen teams were Motsinger's Mean Machine and Manier's White Knights.

In the first round, Kirkland's Krazies got the tournament started by upsetting Kuhlmann's Killaz 10-8. Despite a tremendous spike by freshman Faith Vinson on junior Trent Winchester, Hosmon's Blue Devils were able to defeat Motsinger's Mean Machine 10-7. DeNeal's Destroyers ended the seniors' chance of playing for a championship by defeating Mitchell's Marauders 10-2. Eisenhauer's Giant Killers then beat Manier's White Knights 10-6 to complete the first round of games.

In the first semifinal match, Hosmon's Blue Devils were just too much for Kirkland's Krazies. Junior Cameron Owens sent an ace flying past all six sophomore players. The Blue Devils advanced to the championship game with a 15-4 win. In the second semifinal, junior Alli Isom smashed a serve past DeNeal's Destroyers. Eisenhauer's Giant Killers went on to a 15-7 win.

The championship game featured both junior teams. Eisenhauer's Giant Killers defeated Hosmon's Blue Devils 20-13. Mr. Eisenhauer was presented the Victory is Ours! trophy, and his team members were awarded championship belts.

The next PBIS event is Friday, Oct. 13. Homeroom Challenge No. 2 is a relay race competition.</group><group id="9E46E8F9-AF43-4183-BFEB-4FFFC8B20F4F" type="seoLabels">
