Guitarist Andreas Kapsalis opening 'Warming the Globe' tour at The Varsity
CARBONDALE - The Varsity is excited to announce a return engagement by guitarist Andreas Kapsalis. Kapsalis will begin his "Warming the Globe" 2018 tour in the American Midwest, with an appearance here on March 1.
Kapsalis is an acoustic guitar virtuoso and film composer originally from Chicago. His ten-finger technique lands him in front of audiences all over the world. He has performed at the Calcutta Guitar Festival in India, the Chicago World Music Festival, Philippines Guitar Festival, Canadian Guitar Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Rudolstadt Festival in Germany.
Kapsalis' show showcases an imaginative and rich musical tapestry interwoven with stories and musings of life as a world traveling artist. He last played The Varsity in August and was one of the first musicians to play the renovated Balcony space, which features state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. Kapsalis' music has been described as "weaving an imaginative and rich musical tapestry of world, folk, rock, blues and modern sounds." Check it out at http://akguitar.com.
His performance at The Varsity will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1. Doors and the bar open at 7. Tickets are $10. Advance purchase is available only at thevarsitycenter.org. Tickets will be available for purchase after 7 on the night of the show.
