Du Quion High School's Sweetheart Dance scheduled for this Saturday

Love will be in the air on Saturday as Du Quoin High School's Sweetheart Dance celebrates the passion of Valentine's Day.

The event begins with the coronation at 6 p.m. at Hibbs Auditorium, followed by the dance itself starting at 7 p.m. at the Du Quoin American Legion.

King and Queen candidates are Garret Morgenstern, Delanie File, Ashton Smith, Brooke Ward, Ryan Myers and Avery Shively.

Morgenstern is the son of Doug and Marsha Morgenstern and the grandson of Harry and Pat Huite, Larry Laur and Donella Gee. File is the daughter of Shawn and Shelly File and the granddaughter of Paul and Sherry Stowers, Loren File and Kathryn and Bill Greiner.

Smith is the son of Karly Sims, Lonnie Smith, and Derek Sims, and grandson of Karen and Jodie Smith, and Steve and Teri Sims. Ward is the daughter of Mark and Beverley Ward and the granddaughter of Ron and Mona Ward, and Ray and Nellie Klump.

Myers is the son of Jeff and Paula Myers, and the grandson of Pete and Katherine Castagna, and Patricia Bird.

Sweetheart Prince and Princess candidates are Josh Heape, Haley Williams, Kaylee Aleshire, Eliot Gross, Mandy Saul and Chloe Hess. Sweetheart attendants are Shelby Harris, Katie Smith and Raylee Caroll.

Candle bearers are Chloe Prather, Madison Davis, Megan Dale, Avery Waller, Aubrey Barwick, Cameron Shively and Ella Hirsch.
