Lions Club selling Boston Butt BBQ as fundraiser

MARION - The Lions Club in Marion is selling Boston Butt BBQs.

Cost is $30 each and will be available for pickup on Friday, March 30, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the First Church of God, 1409 Broeking Road.

The club hosts BBQ fundraisers twice a year with profits redistributed into the community in many forms.

For those unfamiliar with the Lions, when it comes to meeting challenges, the Marion Lions Club's response is simple: "We Serve." The Marion Lions Club not only awards scholarships to three Marion High School graduates yearly, but also provides assistance to many local civic organizations such as the School for Hearing Impaired, Marion Ministerial Alliance, The Lighthouse Shelter, The Night's Shield and The Women's Center.

The Marion Lions Club is a member of Lions International - the world's largest charitable organization. All proceeds from the sales will be used to help improve the health of local children in the community by providing sight and hearing services to those in need. These services include not only vision and hearing screenings, but also the eyeglasses and hearing aids themselves; these services benefit visually and hearing-impaired children throughout the Marion area.

To purchase a BBQ butt, contact any Marion Lions Club member, including Marion Republican Managing Editor John Homan at (618) 925-0563.
