Hundreds gather in Carbondale for gun control march
Cold, drizzly weather didn't stop hundreds from gathering in downtown Carbondale this afternoon for a march in support of stricter gun control in the United States.
The demonstration was one of many held in cities across the country today to push for tighter gun laws. The varied marches, including the one in Carbondale, took place in coordination with the March for Our Lives in Washington, D.C. That march was prompted by students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., where a gunman killed 17 students last month. The incident has spawned the latest national debate on guns in America.
The march in Carbondale was organized by Maria Maring and Alexis Jones, seniors at Carbondale Community High School.
