Franklin County Sheriff's blotter
The following incidents were obtained from Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones. Note that arrests, charges and citations are allegations only, not findings of guilt.
March 18
• Deputies arrested Richard D. Hammonds, 34, of Benton for failure to appear for violation of an order of protection.
March 28
• Deputies arrested Mary H. Sims, 46, of Johnston City on a warrant for retail theft.
March 29
• Deputies responded at 9:26 p.m. to a domestic dispute in rural Royalton. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Richard D. Land, 60, of Royalton on a charge of domestic battery.
March 30
• Deputies responded at 10 a.m. to a two-vehicle traffic crash on Rt. 154 at Bannister Road. The investigation concluded that a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Andrew D.L. Martie, 30, of Elkville was eastbound on Rt. 154 behind a 2002 International truck driven by Michael Z. Akins, 24, of Stonefort. The truck attempted to negotiate a left turn as the Silverado attempted to pass, striking the truck on the driver's side front quarter panel. There were no injuries, and Martie was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a traffic crash.
• Deputies responded at 10:15 p.m. to a disturbance at a residence in Ewing. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Golda A. Brandon, 47, of Johnston City on charges of battery and criminal damage to property.
March 31
• Deputies responded at 1:51 a.m. to a single-vehicle traffic crash on Benton Field Road one-quarter mile north of Linn Road. The investigation concluded that a 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven by Ashley M. Wright, 18, of Logan was southbound, swerved to avoid a deer, lost control, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned. Three passengers were injured. Two received minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital by Abbott EMS. A third passenger, a 14-year-old female, sustained major injuries and was air-evacuated to an out-of-state trauma center. The driver was not injured and was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a traffic crash. The investigation is ongoing.
• Deputies responded at 2:05 p.m. to a traffic incident in rural Mulkeytown. The investigation led to the issuing of citations for reckless driving to Shane A. Sanders, 39, of Mulkeytown. He was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle.
• Deputies responded at 7:20 p.m. to a disturbance at a residence in Valier. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Jenna E. Hale, 27, of Marion on charges of criminal trespass to a residence, possession of methamphetamine and resisting a peace officer.
• Deputies responded at 8:46 p.m. to a domestic dispute in rural Sesser. The investigation led to the arrest of Kristi M. Gordon, 40, of Christopher on a charge of domestic battery.
April 1
• Deputies responded at 1:44 a.m. to a reported disturbance at a residence in rural Benton. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Cody J. Ross, 24, of Benton on charges of criminal trespass to a residence, reckless conduct and possessing a firearm without a valid F.O.I.D.
• Deputies responded at 3:23 p.m. to a two-vehicle traffic crash on Rt. 149 at Orient Road. The investigation concluded that a 2007 Buick Lacrosse driven by Merrie A. Schafer, 57, of West Frankfort was westbound on Rt. 149 and attempting to negotiate a right turn onto Orient Road. A westbound 2004 Saturn driven by Dallas E. Lefler, 23, of Mulkeytown struck the Buick in a rear-end type crash. There were no injuries, and Lefler was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
• Deputies responded at 9:30 p.m. to a single-vehicle traffic crash in rural Benton. The vehicle ran off into a ditch and was not damaged. However, the driver, Billy D. Hopson, 39, of Benton was cited for driving while license suspended.
April 3
• A traffic stop at 12:37 p.m. in West City resulted in the arrest of Jacob R. Diefenbach, 29, of Pittsburg on a charge of driving while license suspended and on a Williamson County warrant for failure to appear on traffic charges.
• A traffic stop at 3:57 p.m. in rural Benton led to the arrest of Samuel L. Sweet, 24, of Thompsonville on a charge of driving while license suspended.
• Deputies arrested Stacey L. Conley, 40, of West Frankfort on a warrant for failure to appear for possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Deputies arrested Crissa M. Robbers, 24, of Mt. Vernon on a warrant for failure to appear for aggravated assault.
April 4
• Deputies responded at 1:13 p.m. to a domestic dispute in Buckner. The investigation resulted in the arrest of William T. Carpenter, 43, of Buckner on a charge of criminal damage to property.
• Deputies arrested Nichole M. Pratt, 35, of Christopher on a warrant for violation of bail band.
April 5
• Deputies arrested Bradley E. Eubanks, 39, of Mulkeytown on a warrant for criminal damage to property.
• Deputies arrested Michelle R. Miller, 32, of Carmi on a warrant for criminal damage to property.
• Deputies arrested John R. Majdich, 36, of Benton on a warrant for failure to appear for possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Deputies arrested Cody J. Coleman, 25, of Marion on a warrant for failure to appear for possession of methamphetamine.
• Deputies arrested Charles D. Scott, 28, of Marion on a warrant for failure to appear on traffic charges.
April 6
• Deputies arrested Berthel E. Semon, 30, of Johnston City on warrants for residential burglary and felony theft.
