Indians roll past Freeburg, 12-3

DU QUOIN - Freshman Owen Bradley pitched 6-1/3 strong innings and also had two hits as the Du Quoin High School baseball team defeated Freeburg, 12-3, Wednesday in a non-conference game.

Bradley gave up six hits and two earned runs with seven strikeouts in his outing. All three of Freeburg's runs came in the sixth inning.

"Owen threw fantastic," said Du Quoin coach Kyle Geigler.

The Indians got on the board with five runs in the fifth and put up seven more in the sixth.

In the fifth, Will Woodside ripped a two-run single and Bryzn Witcher drove in a run. The rally was started when Tevin Lee, Hank Stewart, Bradley and Brian Winters all reached and produced runs.

In the sixth, Bradley and Depyatic both socked a two-run singles and Winters also had a hit.

"The offense came together tonight," Geiger said.

Depyatic, Bradley, Lee and Winters all finished with multi-hit games for the Indians.

Du Quoin improved to 5-3 with the win.

The Indians were slated to play at Sparta on Thursday, then travel to Anna-Jonesboro on Monday. Next week's schedule also includes home games against Nashville (April 10), Z-R-C (April 11) and Carterville (April 12).
