Man hurt after motorcycle skids off road near Steeleville

A St. Louis man was injured after he was thrown from his motorcycle in an accident north of Steeleville, according to Randolph County Sheriff's police

Kevin Crutcher, 31, of St. Louis, was the fifth motorcycle in a pack of 13 that was traveling in formation southbound on Eden Road according to police.

Motorcycles in front of Crutcher's 2015 Harley Davidson began to slow for the intersection with North Sparta Street, and police said Crutcher began to reduce speed and in the process began to skid approximately 75 feet north of the intersection. The motorcycle then hit loose gravel, causing additional skidding and loss of control and fishtailing.

Crutcher's motorcycle traveled through the intersection before running off the roadway south of the intersection, where it struck the ditch and overturned, throwing Crutcher off the vehicle.

He was transported to Sparta Community Hospital, according to police. No tickets were issued.
