Du Quoin baseball slugs past West Frankfort, 21-12
WEST FRANKFORT - Six different players had multiple hits as the Du Quoin High School baseball team outslugged West Frankfort, 21-12, Wednesday at Bill McKee Field.
Du Quoin's record improved to 14-7 with the victory.
Tevin Lee, who was one of those six players, hit his fourth homer of the season in his sixth plate appearance. Lee also had two doubles and scored three times.
Ashton Smith had four hits, three singles and a double. Hank Stewart and Bryzn Witcher both had two hits and scored three times. Charley Mercier and Brian Winters both had two hits.
Alex Zimmerman had just one hit, but scored twice and drove in four runs. Will Woodside and Kyle Donoghue also hit safely - both scored three runs apiece.
The Indians also learned Wednesday they'll be playing either Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher or Chester in the semifinals of their own 2A regional on May 16, with Benton and Waltonville playing in the other semifinal.
