Kenneth F. Keller of rural Golconda
Kenneth F. Keller, 83, of rural Golconda, died on May 26, 2018, at Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare in Eldorado.
He was born January 12, 1935, in Champaign to Homer and Mamie (Foster) Keller of Seymour. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Eileen Falck on February 15, 1958. Kenneth received an FFA Conservation Award in 1951 and 1952. He was a Country Companies agent in Champaign County. He was Country Companies Top Health District V Top Agent Award in 1964 to 1965. He later owned and operated Keller Kampers from 1961 to 1981 and Keller Insurance Company. He was an elected official on the Mahomet Fire Department District from 1971-1981 as the treasurer and president. He moved to Pope County in 1981. He was a member and officer of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Golconda. He served on the SCS Board of Pope and Hardin. He was a Rotary Club of Golconda member and a Paul Harris Fellow. He received the following awards: 1978 Conservation Farmer of Year Pope Hardin SWCD; Pope Hardin SWCD 84-86 award of merit "Goodyear Conservation Award." He was a winter Texan for 26 years. Every home he designed and built, from the first one in Seymour to his home in Golconda, was a passive solar home.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eileen Keller of Golconda; son, Rodney Keller of Golconda; daughter, Deborah (Thomas, Sr.) St. Germain of New Orleans; two grandchildren, Thomas St. Germain, Jr., and Isabelle St. Germain both of New Orleans; and two brothers, Darrell Keller of Rantoul and Everett Keller of Golconda.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Brewer, and a brother, Erwin Keller.
Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. May 31, 2018, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. The service will be conducted by Pastor David Otten. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Visit alyfh.com to leave an online condolence.
