Tuesday night fire guts home on Hadfield Street
MARION - A late Tuesday night fire gutted a vacant home at 608 Hadfield St. in Marion.
Fire Chief Jerry Odum described the home as a "total loss" as the result of significant fire and smoke damage.
Odum said firefighters responded to a call at 9:56 p.m. and were on the scene fighting the blaze until 11:24 p.m. Providing assistance were the Williamson County Fire Protection District and Herrin Fire Department.
Odum said the fire originated in one of the bedrooms. It is undetermined how the fire started.
"The house was packed full of trash," the chief said. "We heard reports of traffic in an and out of there."
The owner of the home was unknown, although it had supposedly been sold at auction earlier in the day.
Firefighter Steven Abbott with the Williamson County Fire Protection District packs up a hose after the fire was extinguished.
