St. Mary's golf tournament honors Shields' memory
The second annual St. Mary's Catholic School Golf Tournament in memory of Jim Shields was held at the Chester Country Club June 23.
Tate Search, tournament chairman, filled the course with many friends and relatives of Jim's to make the golf tournament a huge success. Through the years, Jim played golf with many of the golfers who played at this memorial event. After the conclusion of the tournament, everyone gathered at the Knights of Columbus in Chester for a BBQ chicken dinner with all the trimmings - another of Jim's accomplishments, grilling chicken on racks. The chicken was prepared by "Sox" Middendorf, "Trigger" Middendorf, Eddie Eckart, Chris (Naeg) Naeger and "Big Daddy" Prange.
A silent auction and a drawing for Cardinal baseball tickets (donated by Jim and Joli Smith) was also held. Every player in the tournament received a cooler with a picture of Jim and one of his sayings: "You Be Good Pal".
