Red Bud man charged after 2-car accident

No one was seriously hurt in a 2-vehicle accident on Illinois 3 south of Red Bud July 15, according to Randolph County Sheriff's police.

Sheriff reports said the accident occurred around 2:25 a.m. on Route 3 near Canter Road. A 2009 Ford F-150 truck being driven by Devin Palmer, 20, of Red Bud was traveling northbound on Route 3. Palmer told officers he looked down at his radio and when he looked back up, his truck was in the southbound lane of the roadway as a 1978 Ford F-150 truck being driven by Brandon Sauerhage, 21, of Chester was traveling south. Palmer's truck sideswpied Sauerhage's vehicle, according to the report..

Palmer was charged with improper lane usage and DUI, police said.
