Dewatering closes Costello Lock and Dam to all traffic

The dewatering of the lock chamber at the Jerry F. Costello Lock and Dam will result in facility being closed to all traffic until Aug. 26.

Recreation boaters should plan accordingly as access to and from the Mississippi River will be limited through late August when maintenance is completed. The upstream and downstream boat ramps will not be affected and will remain available for river access.

The dewatering of the lock chamber will be the first in the project's history, allowing inspections of the structure and critical repairs to be completed. Lock tours will be available Wednesday and Saturday evenings from 6:30- 8 p.m. beginning August 11. The safety of our visitors and workers is of highest importance during this eventful time at the lock, therefore, no public tours will be given outside of this schedule.
