One teen injured in single-vehicle accident in county

PERRY COUNTY - Illinois State Police report a single-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 1 a.m. Friday on Tanglefoot Road, one mile north of Cudgetown Road in rural Perry County.

A 2007 Ford pickup truck driven by Charles Emiling, 20, of Pickneyville, is said to have been traveling southbound on Tanglefoot Road when it left the roadway and overturned. A passenger in the car, Kayla Choate, 18, of Chester, was flown to a St. Louis hospital with serous injuries. The other occupants in the car - Mikayla Zlotnicki, 20, of Thebes, Adam Sanders, 19, of Du Quoin, and Alexis Taylor, 18, of Murphysboro, were uninjured.

Emling was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and consumption of alcohol by a person under 21. Taylor and Sanders were charged with consumption of alcohol by a person under 21.
