Vick, Marlo retain seats in Williamson County

MARION - Longtime Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick, D-Johnston City, and Commissioner Jim Marlo, R-Herrin, were re-elected to their respective positions Tuesday.

Vick totaled 53 percent of the vote - 14,605 votes - to Republican J.D. Barter's 12,446 votes, 45 percent.

Marlo totaled 17,781 votes or 64 percent of the vote to Democratic challenger Mike Wright, who finished with 8,683 votes or 31 percent.

A total of 27,457 votes were cast out of 45,987 registered voters in Williamson County.

Outgoing Republican Governor Bruce Rauner can take solace in the fact that Southern Illinois backed him over Democratic winner, J.B. Pritzker.
