Four computer classes offered this month at JALC Alongi Extension Center
DU QUOIN - The following four classes will be taught in Du Quoin at the John A. Logan College Alongi Extension Center in Southtowne Shopping Center beginning on Jan. 22 or 23. They will be taught by Brenda Teaney. The new class called, "Computer Class for Those who Have Never Used a Computer," could be particularly helpful to those adults who have held back learning anything much about computers or technology.
Many are literally scared and think they are too old to learn. This class should prove them wrong and be an enjoyable experience, as well.
All classes are two hours in length, once a week, for eight sessions. Anyone interested may sign up at the office in Du Quoin (542-9210) during office hours or online. Each class will cost $36 for all eight sessions.
IPADs (How to Get the Most Out of them)
Learn to get the most out of your iPad by using Apps and your camera. Find out what settings make it most useful. Class starts with the basics and then instruction tailored to the skills of those enrolled. There will be instruction considered beginning, intermediate as well as advanced. Get lots of your questions answered. Must bring apple ID and Password. Beginning on Tuesdays Jan. 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for eight sessions.
Beginning Photo Editing - Digital
Learn simple techniques to fix exposure, crop, fix red eye, use filters and much more to enhance your photos. This is a class for beginners and you may edit your own photos or those provided. You will learn to use various free online apps from the internet to make your photos ready to print or publish. It would be helpful to bring a flash drive on which to store your photos and new creations. You do not have to have a camera. Beginning on Tuesdays Jan. 22 from 1-3 p.m. for eight sessions.
Windows 10 Basics Plus Living with technology in 2019
Students will learn basic information about Microsoft Windows 10 operating system including the desktop, personalization, default programs, apps and much more. This class will make your transition from Windows 7 or another version of windows much easier. Part of the class will be concerned with questions and problems people have about technology and computers today. Beginning on Wednesday Jan. 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for eight sessions.
A Computer class for those who have never used a computer (NEW CLASS)
If you fit the title category, this is the class for you. No pressure! Learn the things you need to know to survive in society and some of the terminology of computers and phones. Have fun while the mystery of the internet is revealed ... and much to your surprise, you may just enjoy something you thought you wanted no part in. You do not have to have a computer at home. Have fun with people just like yourself who are now finding it almost a necessity to learn a bit about technology. Any age is welcome and you are never too old to learn. Beginning on Wednesdays Jan. 23 from 1-3 p.m. for eight sessions.
