JALC offers contracts for next school year
CARTERVILLE - During February's board of trustees meeting, a large number of full-time, tenured and nontenured faculty members were offered contracts for the 2019-2020 academic year. In addition, three faculty members were awarded tenure.
George Bricker, Robert McKenzie and Kylee Williams, who had each completed three years of full-time employment with the college, were awarded tenure for the 2019-2020 academic year.
The following full-time, tenured faculty members were offered contracts for the 2019-2020 academic year: Molly Alter, Cheryl Barrall, Jane Beyler, Nicole Borrenpohl, Jane Bryant, Thomas Chandler, David Cochran, William Connell, Sheri Cook, Robert Craig, Nancy Crowell, Joseph Dethrow, Richard Deutsch, James Elliott, David Evans, Donna Ford, Jo Forer, Matt Garrison, Heather Hampson, Pamala Hays, Lora Hines, Julie Horecker, Jennifer Jeter, Pamela Karns, Kathi Kibler, Perry Knop, Mikeal Kos, Richard LaSalle, Jason McFarland, Erin McGuire, Valerie Newberry, Denise Orrill, Martha Peebles, Kemberly Pinto, Joseph Roach, James Mark Rogers, Debra Russell, Valarie Shaw, Robyn Stevens, Jason Stutes, Jason Tanner, Cheryl Thomas, Marilyn Toliver and Jennifer Watkins.
The following full-time, nontenured faculty members, who had not completed three years of employment, but had been evaluated positively, were offered one-year, nontenured contracts for the 2019-2020 academic year: Esmarie Boyles, Andrew Carr, Aaron Carter, Rebecca Corbit, Adam Dahmer, Carey Gerber, Jacob Wayne Griffith, Leslie Harmon-McKenzie, Jason Hedrick, Prachi Parashar, Bart Pulliam, Brennan Stover, Kristin Yosanovich, Crystal Young and Carlyn Zimmermann.
<h3 class="breakHead">Term faculty ratified</h3>
David Brad Cullum was ratified as a part-time instructor of math effective Jan. 14. Cullum has a bachelor's degree in mathematics with secondary certification from Blackburn College.
Arlene Transue was ratified as a part-time, substitute instructor of music effective Jan. 14. Transue has a master's degree in music/voice from the University of British Columbia.
<h3 class="breakHead">Community education staff employed</h3>
Bailey Barrows was hired as a substitute yoga and aquatics instructor effective Feb. 26. Rebecca Jones was ratified as a substitute swim instructor effective Jan. 28. LaRita Sullivan-Nance was hired as a photography - outdoors, wildlife and birding instructor effective March 13. Kalie Weisenberger was ratified as a post-injury aquatic strength and conditioning instructor effective Jan. 21.
All of these classes will be taught at John A. Logan's main campus in Carterville.
<h3 class="breakHead">Workforce development staff hired, volunteer OK'd</h3>
Logan Cobb and April Deer were hired as CPR instructors effective at the start of the spring semester. Funding for both positions is subsidized (50 percent) by grants.
The board of trustees also voted to appoint Mary Pulliam as a volunteer for the Harrison-Bruce Historical Village on the John A. Logan campus.
