Former Eldorado Mayor Bob Briddick dies

ELDORADO - Eldorado is mourning the loss of a former mayor and current councilman, Robert A. "Bob" Briddick, who friends say always worked hard to make the community better.

Briddick died Saturday at Brookstone Estates in Harrisburg.

He was the current city police commissioner, and was a former mayor for the city. He also served many years as the city's police chief.

Eldorado Mayor Rocky James said he was saddened by Briddick's passing, and that he considered Briddick a longtime friend.

"Bob is going to be dearly missed by the city, the council and the citizens of Eldorado," James said. "He served as mayor and councilman for several years, was police chief for several years and is going to be missed by all of us for what he did for this town. He was a great friend of mind and had been for years."

Eldorado city attorney C. Mart Watson also praised Briddick's dedication to the city.

"Bob was a great guy. I worked with him for well over 30 years. He served Eldorado in a lot of capacities. He always kept a close eye on the budget, and he was respected for that," Watson said. "He always had the best interests of the city of Eldorado at heart."
