Free musical acts announced for Du Quoin State Fair

DU QUOIN - Officials with the Du Quoin State Fair have announced their beer tent performers for this year's celebration. The lineup features a bevy of dynamic artists ranging from hybrid country to classic rock.

The LACS will perform Friday, Aug. 23. They are a fresh breed of country merging rap and rock genres to create something entirely new. The blend sounds like it shouldn't work, but so does chicken and waffles. Not many artists can give John Denver's "Country Road" a hip-hop facelift and survive it, but these guys did - and they made it their own.

Heavy guitar, accompanied by twangy Americana rap, will surely keep your toes tapping! It's no wonder two albums have reached the Top Five on Billboard's rap and country charts, and they've sold over 200,000 albums and 400,000 digital tracks. On Aug. 23, experience the rich flavor of the rural south with a dash of urban grit that transcends music into a cultural celebration.

Saving Abel performs Saturday, Aug. 24. The band exudes a stage presence that can only be described as infectious. Hits like "Addicted," "Love Sick Suicide," and "Blood Stained Revolution" ooze angsty explosiveness and ferocious energy that fuels the crowd. Saving Abel is a must see on Aug. 24.

The Neverly Brothers play Sunday, Aug. 25. They are a powerful rock & roll tribute band inspired by early-American rockabilly artists and British Invasion bands. Their historic presentation of rock history is told through high energy performances that offer a newfound appreciation for the music of yesteryear.

You'll be thoroughly entertained with chronological song sequence, stories behind the music and vintage wardrobe changes. Their library includes colorful renditions ranging from Elvis to The Rolling Stones. Their one-of-a-kind stage performance will take you on a musical expedition through time.

"We have been working tirelessly with management agencies to secure the best talent possible for this year's Du Quoin State Fair," said Josh Gross, Du Quoin State Fair Manager. "Our mission is to provide a dynamic musical journey that offers something for everyone."
