Logan spikers improve to 2-0 in league play

CARTERVILLE - The John A Logan Lady Vols volleyball team opened the home schedule in style Wednesday, posting a four-set victory over Southwestern Illinois College of Belleville: 25-17, 19-25, 25-19, 25-21.

The Volstook improve to 2-0 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and even their overall mark at 3-3.

Kameryn Sillmon led Logan's offense with 12 kills. Bryleigh Buchanan (sophomore from Harrisburg) followed with seven kills. Alanis Below was tops in digs or passes with 19. Lexie Barnes recorded 21 assists. As a team the Vols notched 19 blocks.

Logan returns to the hardwood this weekend at the Blazer Classic in Vincennes, Ind. On Friday at 2 p.m., the Vols take on the host school, and at 4 p.m. they meet up with Mineral Area College.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, the Vols square off with Wabash Valley, and at 11 a.m. they tangle with Walters State.

Next league match is Monday at Lake Land College in Mattoon.
