CHS Baseball and Softball Meat Wheel fundraiser to be held Feb. 16 at Chester Eagles

The Chester High School Baseball and Softball teams will host a "Meat Wheel" fundraiser on Feb. 16 to support the upcoming baseball and softball seasons.

Softball Coach Tracy Colvis and baseball Coach Trevor Kelkhoff encourage all Yellow Jacket supporters to help get the 2020 season off to a good start.

The fundraiser will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chester Eagles Club, 402 Hacker St.

There will be lots of opportunities to win various types and cuts of meat throughout the afternoon.

There will also be free food and other refreshments throughout the afternoon, "and lots of socialization and good times," Colvis said. "We hope a lot of people will come out and enjoy the fun."

Coach Kelkhoff said the baseball team has already started working out at open gym sessions.

"We're excited to begin official practices in March," he added. "Proceeds from the Meat Wheel Fundraiser will help both the baseball and softball teams."

The first game of the 2020 softball season will be Saturday, March 21 at the Carterville Round Robin Tournament. This year the Lady Jackets will host nine home games and travel to 16 away events.

The Baseball Yellow Jackets open the season on Monday, March 23 at Steeleville. First pitch is 4:30 p.m. Chester will host 13 games this year and travel to 16 events.
