More COVID cases reported in local counties

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS - Local health departments reported more positive COVID-19 cases Thursday afternoon.

Egyptian Health Department, which covers Saline, Gallatin and White counties, reported six new cases.

The individuals include:

<h3 class="breakHead">Saline County</h3>

a female, in her 30s, at home and in isolation

<h3 class="breakHead">Gallatin County</h3>

a female, in her 60s, hospitalized

<h3 class="breakHead">White County</h3>

a male, in his teens, at home and in isolation

a female, in her 50s, at home and in isolation

a female, in her 60s, case status in progress

a female, in her 70s, hospitalized

To date, Saline County has had a total of 135 lab confirmed positives, including two deaths.

White County has had a total of 80 lab-confirmed positives, and Gallatin County has a total of 53 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including two deaths.

Meanwhile, Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department reported 41 new cases in its two-county service area Thursday afternoon.

The newly confirmed cases by gender, county and age are as follows:

<h3 class="breakHead">Franklin:</h3>

Females: One teenager.

Males: One teenager, one in his 20s, three in their 30s, two in their 40s, one in his 60s and one in his 70s.

<h3 class="breakHead">Williamson:</h3>

Females: One teenager. four in their 20s, three in their 30s, six in their 40s, three in their 50s and one in her 60s.

Males: Four teenagers, two in their 20s, four in their 30s, one in his 40s, one in his 50s and one in his 60s.

The individuals are believed to have acquired the disease through either local contact with known cases, health care exposure or through transmission in the community. Bi-County is also investigating an outbreak at a long-term care facility.

Contact tracing for all individuals associated with the outbreak will be continued through completion. Public health officials will not be releasing more specific details about these individuals due to privacy issues.

To date, there have been a total of 504 laboratory-confirmed positives in Williamson County and 215 laboratory-confirmed positives in Franklin County, including six deaths in Williamson county and one death in Franklin county related to COVID-19. Of the positive cases, 290 have recovered in Williamson County and 112 have recovered in Franklin County.

In Jackson County, five new COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday.

Three women, one in her 50s and two in their 70s, along with two men, one in his 40s and one his 70s, were reported.

To date, there have been 742 confirmed cases in the county, including 20 related deaths. Twelve individuals were released from isolation, in accordance with CDC guidelines, bringing the total released to 631 individuals. Ninety-one active cases are currently being managed.

Area health departments note that as cases increase, the number of close contacts increases for individuals who need to be quarantined for a minimum of 14 days. Please maintain physical distancing of six feet or more at all times.
