Rock Bouncers invade Saline County

SALINE COUNTY - People from around the region flocked to Williams Hill on the weekend to catch a glimpse of the county's first rock bouncer event, featuring Point1 Off Road Racing.

Rock bouncing is a name for an extreme form of off-road racing, featuring plenty of trails, mud, and racecourses running up steep, rocky grades.

Brought to Saline County by Saline County resident and county board member Casey Perkins, the event proved to be a popular one.

"We had around 1,500 people here on Saturday," Perkins said. "I'd say overall, it was a pretty good turnout."

The bluebird skies made for a beautiful day in the outdoors, and the remnants of recent rains kept the ground muddy enough to make it fun for racers and fans alike.

"You couldn't have asked for better weather for this," said Saline County Tourism Board member Mark Motsinger, who attended the event to observe.

Saline County Tourism Board helped sponsor the event.

Perkins, who has been working to promote outdoor tourism in the county, said another race is planned for June 19. He thanked those who worked the event and those who attended for making the event a success.

"I'd like to say thanks to all the people who made this work out," Perkins said.
