Burglary, theft suspect arrested in Mt. Vernon

A Carbondale man was apprehended by police in Mt. Vernon following a residential burglary and vehicle theft in Carbondale.

Mt. Vernon police arrested Brian K. Adams, 43, while investigating an unrelated crime, but Adams already was wanted by Carbondale Police in connection with an incident last month.

On July 9, Carbondale officers responded to the 500 block of Deer Trail for a residential burglary and vehicle theft. Officers learned that suspects burglarized the residence and stole a vehicle the preceding evening. During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Adams and Gerald D. Stroud, 40, of Vergennes as the suspects.

Stroud was arrested on July 9 and incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.

Officers recovered the vehicle and some of the victim’s property.
