Kamran Mogharreban of Carbondale

Kamran Mogharreban, 71, of Carbondale passed away on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

He was born Aug. 7, 1954, to Ismael Mogharreban and Akram (Khorsand) Mogharreban in Tehran, Iran.

He worked at Southern Illinois University for 24 years, retiring from the position of Administrative Information Systems Director in 2019. Kamran enjoyed meeting friends and colleagues for coffee and lunch. He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Shum; children Mehdi Mogharreban, Majeed Mogharreban and Elhaum (Will) McClain; grandchildren Ruby Mogharreban and Charles Mogharreban; two brothers, Namdar (Cathy) Mogharreban and Nader Mogharreban; as well as many other relatives and friends.

It was the wishes of Kamran that his body be donated to the SIU School of Medicine for scientific medical studies. A Celebration of Life at the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship will be scheduled in the near future.

Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family will designate preferred charities for memorial donations in the near future.
