Panthers take third in Mississippi Division

For the first time since 2006, Anna-Jonesboro took home the Mississippi title from the Southern Illinois River-To-River Conference Golf Tournament, contested Tuesday at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale.

The Wildcats edged Nashville, winners of six of the last seven Mississippi titles, by seven strokes as A-J shot a 407, while Nashville carded a 414.

Pinckneyville took third with a 439, while Sparta (453), Carterville (457) and Du Quoin (480) rounded out the field.

Anna-Jonesboro's Marlee Smith took home overall medalist honors with an 89, leading the way for the Mississippi all-conference team.

Ryan Stiegman, of Nashville, was second overall with a 98 and Anna-Jonesboro's Mary Jane Cavaness was third overall with a 99. Nashville's Grace Ruehl, Sparta's Claire Baue and Pinckneyville's Zoey Brammeier all shot a 102, while Nashville's Emily Guest and Pinckneyville's Breyona Schandl both shot a 105. Aubrey Barwick, of Du Quoin, shot a 106 and Sparta's Makayla McCready had a 107.

In addition to Brammeier and Schandl, the Panthers also got a 114 from Aubrey Lemmon and a 118 from Madison Lynch. Kylie Harvey added a 126 for Pinckneyville.

Du Quoin's Grace Alongi shot a 117, while Ryleigh Ridgeway fired a 119 and Emma Fischer finished with a 138 to round out the four-person scoring. Jalynn Wood added a 148 for the Indians.
