PCHS freshmen raise money for Sudan water project
PINCKNEYVILLE - Colby Bigham's Reading 9 and English I classes worked together to raise over $600 on a goal of $500 through bake sales, donations, and personal contributions to send to the "Water for South Sudan" project, helping to provide access to clean, safe water, and improved hygiene and sanitation to people in small Sudanese villages.
PCHS students learned of the project by reading the novel, "A Long Walk to Water" by Linda Sue Park, based on the true story of individual struggles to survive in the northeastern African nation due to contaminated water and little access to clean water for drinking and sanitation.
Information on the project can be found at www.waterforsouthsudan.org.
