Champion Swimming Indians Own 40 of Team's 81 Records

The Du Quoin City Council Monday fully honored the 2012 Du Quoin Swimming Indians for their third Southern Illinois Swim League championship title in a row. President Monte Kuhnert said, "We would like to thank the city and the park board for providing a pool for Du Quoin. Without it there would be no swim team. We won SISL, which is the Southern Illinois Swim League. The league consists of Marion, Herrin, Mt. Vernon, Anna, and Salem. We had never won the league in 30 years of competing before 2010. This year we had 110 kids on the 2012 team. Of the 80 records on our team record board, 16 new records were set this year and during our three year championship run, 41 of 80 have been broken. Finally, and most important, we have a lot of FAST SWIMMERS!" Those attending were thrilled by the success of the team.
