<div class="PlainText">John Wayne Jones, 78, of Du Quoin passed away at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his residence.<br /> John had worked at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of Landmark Apostolic Church in Sparta. John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time at Kentucky Lake. He was a member of Du Quoin Masonic Lodge 234, the Ainad Shrine and the Du Quoin Bass Anglers. Above all, John loved his children.<br /> He was born Jan. 11, 1939, in Du Quoin, the son of Herschel E. "Pete" and Clara M. (Huffstutler) Jones.<br /> He married Brenda L. Gentry Jan. 11, 1977, in Du Quoin, and she survives.<br /> He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; five children, Cynthia L. Sizemore and husband Marvin, Paul Jones and wife Lynn, Charles Jones and wife Candi, David Jones and wife Kim, and Anthony Jones and wife Marites, all of Du Quoin; grandchildren Marty and Stacey, Jeremy, Jarrod, Derek and Stacey, Colin and Krista, Dustin and Amber, Bryce and Mallory, Cody and Lacy, Kory and Chelsea, Kyle, Lauren, Josh and Shaylyn; great-grandchildren Drayke and Erka, Kylee, Jace, Elizabeth, Milly, Hunter, Jacob, Easton, Oakley, Olivia, Bennett, Katatrina, Scoutt, Maverick, Roxy and two great-grandchildren on the way; one great-great-grandchild, Myla; one sister, Shirley M. Ruff of Carterville; one brother, Mark Jones and wife Gloria of Tamaroa; brother-in-law Steve Harsy and wife Marilyn of Highland; and several nieces and nephews.<br /> He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Jason Harsy.<br /> A special thanks goes to his family, the Masonic Lodge, the Ainad Shrine, the SIH Cancer Institute, Marshall Browning Hospital, Dr. Rao, Celtic Hospice, the Rev. Gerald Wright, Landmark Apostolic Church and Brother Rice, and many special friends.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1769_1903" tabindex="0">Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Gerald Wright and Bro.</span> Doug Rice officiating.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1927_2004" tabindex="0">Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.</span><br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_2005_2086" tabindex="0">Masonic services will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.</span><br /> Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin at a later date.<br /> In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to Du Quoin Masonic Lodge, Landmark Apostolic Church in Sparta or the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life.
