Margaret A. Reel

Margaret A. (Lewis) Reel, 67, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:26 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at the Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton, Ill.

Margaret had been a caregiver at Gold Plate in Du Quoin. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin. Margaret had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was born June 23, 1946 at Midland, Tex., the daughter of Philip D. and Anna R. (Shepard) Lewis.

She married John Reel on Jan. 31, 1972 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2005.

She is survived by four daughters - Melissa Dennis and husband Roger, Jennifer Reel, Ashley Rice and De Anna Healy and husband Bob, all of Du Quoin, 10 grandchildren - Jordyn Reel, Morgan Dennis, Zach Wilderman, Madison Dennis, Riley Rice, Austin Rice, Gavin Healy, Cooper Rice, Gauge Healy and Dylann Prather, six siblings - Danny Lewis of Minnesota, Jane Contri of Chester, Ill., Lynn Lewis of Clinton, Ill., Shelby Lewis of Vergennes, Ill., Donald Lewis of Du Quoin and Sid Lewis of Peoria, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers - Robert Lewis and Glynn Lewis, and one grandson - Garrett Healy.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.

Friends may make memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
