Clyde Edward Beasley
Clyde Edward (Ed) Beasley, age 75, of Du Quoin, died at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 after a long and brave fight with cancer at the Marshall Browning Hospital.
He was born Aug. 4, 1937 to Clyde H. and Grace (Schmidt) Beasley in Du Quoin.
He married Myrna Clark Beaulieu on Jan. 20, 1998.
Ed served his country proudly in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Ed loved working outdoors, mowing grass, planting trees and trimming around the property.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Du Quoin, Shekinah Lodge #241 of Carbondale, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He had a Master's Degree in Community Development and Agriculture, and worked for Southern Illinois University for several years. In subsequent years, he worked in the tipple Freeman United Coal Mine, #11, from which he retired.
Ed is survived by his wife, Myrna of Du Quoin, a brother, Theodore Beasley of Du Quoin, a sister, Lillian Lutes of Du Quoin, nieces, Nancy Bird of Du Quoin and Diana Kennedy of Kentucky, nephews, Steve Lutes and Daniel Beasley of Du Quoin, a large number of great-nieces and nephews, step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and his father-in-law, Dale Clark of Carbondale and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service, 1:00 p.m. at the Crain Pleasant Grove Murdale Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Clyde Edward (Ed) Beasley will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park with military honors by the Marion National Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
