Monday Sept. 27 was "Mad for Plaid Day" when all CHS students wore plaid clothing to create spirit. Tuesday Sept. 28 was "Twin Day" when students dressed as twins to have fun and keep the spirit alive. Wednesday Sept. 29 was "Camo Day" as students and faculty alike wore camouflage clothing.
Thursday Sept. 30 was "Class Shirt Day" and all four classes worm their class-specific T-Shirts as a spirit-maker. Freshmen wore Kelly Green, sophomores wore California Blue, juniors wore Safety Green and seniors wore Cyber Pink. The teachers and staff wore Yellow Jacket Orange.
Thursday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. all students and staff were sent to W.O. Smith Football Field to spend the remainder of the day engaging in homecoming-related activities.
The first order of business was to take a school-wide picture of all students and staff. Wearing their brightly colored spirit T-Shirts the entire group formed the numbers, 2011. Staff formed a line in front of all of the students. Freshmen formed the number two in their green shirts, sophomores formed the number zero in their California blue shirts, juniors formed the number one in their safety green shirts and the seniors formed the number one in their cyber pink shirts. Teachers and staff lined up in front of the entire group.
Immediately following the school-wide picture the CHS girls loosened up for the playing of the 2010 Powder Puff Football game. The event is an annual activity which is all in fun, but does carry with it a bit of prestige for the winner.
The semi-finals were played on both ends of the field between the 50-yard lines. Juniors hosted the freshmen on the north end while the seniors and the sophomores battled on the south end.
In the semi-finals the juniors defeated the freshmen, 32-12, and the seniors beat the sophomores, 35-25. The juniors and seniors thusly advanced to the Championship game at 2:30 p.m. In the finals, the Class of 2011 (seniors) defeated the Class of 2012 (juniors) to become the Powder Puff Champions of Homecoming 2010.
Later that night was the Homecoming Bon Fire behind the school. The CHS Band, Cheerleaders, Dance Team and Football Players were featured as the fire roared. Speeches were made to fire up the team and students, teachers, staff, administrators and the general public cheered the team to victory.
Friday Oct. 1 was Orange and Black day and everyone was encouraged to wear Yellow Jacket apparel to show support for the Football Jackets. School was dismissed at 1:50 p.m. so that everyone could get read for the annual Homecoming Parade.
The Homecoming Parade stepped off at 4 p.m. The weather was beautiful and a large contingent was present to march, walk and ride in the procession. The CHS Band and the CGS Band provided the music for the event while each class entered a float.
There were 11 CHS class reunions who rode on wagons and truck beds in the parade including the classes of 1953, 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1995, 2000 and 2005. Rounding out the event were the VFW Color Guard and City of Chester Fire trucks and Police.
The Homecoming game began at 7 p.m. with all class reunions present to support the Yellow Jackets. Chester won the game rather handily, 39-24, over Eldorado. CHS improved to 4-1 with the win.
At halftime senior Jaelee Fortner was crowned as 2010 CHS Homecoming Queen while senior Taylor Crum was announced as 2010 Homecoming Queen Runner Up. Retiring King and Queen, Jeff Beers and Jamie Chambers were on hand to conduct the crowning ceremonies.
Also at halftime the 2010 Homecoming Float Contest winners were announced. In third place was the Class of 2010 (seniors). There was a second place tie between the Class of 2012 (juniors) and Class of 2014 (freshmen). The winner of the Class Float Competition was the Class of 2013 (sophomores).
Following the Homecoming game numerous reunion activities were held across town at various establishments.
Saturday Oct. 2 there were several Homecoming activities throughout the day including breakfasts, brunches, luncheons, tours of Chester High School and general visiting among the 11 class reunions in town for the weekend.
The Homecoming Dance began at 8:30 p.m. and was well attended right from the beginning. The gym was decorated in beautiful fall colors and a nearly sell-out crowd participated.
Dr. Jim Beers served as Master of Ceremonies for the 2010 Homecoming King Coronation which began at 9 p.m. Beers welcomed the numerous parents and members of the community who had gathered in the bleachers to see the ceremonies.
The CHS Student Council was recognized and thanked for their efforts throughout the week and special recognition was given to Jenna Wingerter, Student Council Extra-Curricular Chairperson and Megan Marcinkowska, Student Council Social Chairperson. Both of these young ladies were key organizers of the dance.
Beers further recognized Mrs. Keyona Fischer, CHS Art Teacher and her art students for creating the wonderful decorations for the dance. The gym was beautiful. Finally, Mrs. Missy Meyer and Mr. Dwight Lochhead were recognized as the Student Council Sponsors.
The 2010 CHS Homecoming King was senior Justin Eggemeyer and senior Blake Nanney was the 2010 Runner Up. Retiring King, Jeff Beers and Retiring Queen, Jamie Chambers, crowned the new King and honored the Runner Up.

The royal couple was then joined by the rest of the court including Blake Nanney and Taylor Crum; Clint Cole and Jenna Wingerter; Jordan Wetzel and Shelby Long and Tyler Jones and Britney Schroeder.
The rest of the evening the rest of the crowd spent dancing to the music of one of the Cosmo-T D. J.'s. The entire crowd stayed until late in the evening enjoying refreshments, dancing and socializing.
