Boil order in effect Wednesday afternoon for part of East Franklin Street, Du Quoin

A boil order is in effect Wednesday afternoon for the 300 block of East Franklin Street.

According to a news release from Chris Lacy, the Du Quoin waterworks and sewerage system superintendent, repairs are being made to the water lines in this area and a boil order is necessary.

No information was released on when the order is expected to be canceled, but this newspaper, other newspapers and the local radio station will be notified when the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has tested the water and it is deemed fine.
