Breezy Hill R/C Club to hold annual canned food drive
On Saturday, the Breezy Hill R/C Club will hold the sixth annual Free Air Show and Canned Food Drive to benefit the Chester Area Christian Food Pantry.
Last year's event drew a crowd of around 400 and participants donate canned goods as their landing fee. Club members display a diverse range of their personal RC planes and visitors are given the opportunity to try their hand at flying with the help of club members and the club's buddy box, which allows spectators to experience the thrill of flight.
In 2016, the club - through hard work of its members and the generosity of its sponsors - was able to donate $600 to the food pantry, as well as more than 300 pounds of food items.
Pilot registration and open flying begins at 8 a.m. Attendance prizes will be drawn all day with a 50/50 drawing at 3 p.m.
Landing fee is five canned or nonperishable food items. For more information, visit Breezy Hill RC Flying Field on Facebook or call Ronnie Shemonic (618-615-1774) or Steve Jany (618-615-1950).
Rain date is Sunday, June 4. An AMA membership is required to fly.
