ALA Post 487 meeting highlights
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Chester American Legion Auxiliary Post 487 held its monthly meeting on April 10 at the Post Home with 11 members in attendance.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">President Betty Wagner welcomed members, Chaplain Collette Powley gave the dinner prayer.  Ellen Kautz prepared the meal and was served by Farida Hollaway.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Prior to the meeting, the "Draping of the Charter" was conducted by President Wagner and Chaplain Powley in memory of Wilma Taggart.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Powley reported that the library has classes like making greeting cards, eggs dyeing, etc.  A Civil War program was held April 27 and a defensive driving course took place at the Chester Senior Center April 11 and 12.</span>

<li><strong> Illinois Girls State Chairman</strong></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Mary Sulser announced that Jessica Kattenbraker will be going to the June session. She also reported that there are other girls interested in attending.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Motion was made and seconded to donate $200 to the Honor Flight program.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Hollaway advised that the Auxiliary will not be in the Community yard sale. President Wagner advised of the Poppy Sales on May 26 and May 27.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Members are requested to sign up for the shifts at various locations. On Friday, they are to pick up the Poppies and containers Thursday, May 25 evening around 6 p.m.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Legionnaires will take the shifts for Saturday at the Buena Vista Bank corner.  </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Beth Hartenberger won the attendance drawing. There being no further business, meeting adjourned.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Chaplain Powley had the closing prayer. President Wagner advised that the May meeting is potluck, and urged members to attend. Lunch at 6 p.m., business meeting thereafter.</span>
