Obituary for Alan George Stumpe
<strong>ALAN GEORGE STUMPE,</strong> <strong>84</strong>, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 8:24 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester, Illinois.
He was born to the late Norbert G. and Martha (nee Bauer) Stumpe on January 18, 1933 in Chester, Illinois.
Alan served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Greenland. When he came back from the service, he worked for the International Shoe Factory in Chester and St. Louis for several years.
Then he went to work as a custodian at the Chester Grade School until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois.
Survivors include one sister - Ruth (Roger) Petrowske, Chester; One brother - Norbert “Buddy” (Mary Ann) Stumpe, Chester; Sister-in-law Sarah Stumpe, Okeechobee; Uncle John Bauer, Evansville and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by parents, two brothers – Roger and Roland “Red” Stumpe, one sister-in-law – Dorothy Stumpe, and two nephews – Jason Stumpe and Brian Petrowske.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois with Father Gene Wojcik officiating
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Chester, Illinois.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois
Memorials can be St. Mary’s Catholic School and Masses.
